Rather interesting difference. Both parts are Brisbane dual cores, 65nm, 45W pieces. BE-2300 is 1.9GHz with a 9.5x multiplier... 5050e is a 2.6GHz part with a 13x multiplier. I've currently got an AMD X2 5050e 2.6GHz CPU in my other machine and I'm thinking of swapping it out with a AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz .. I've got a Abit A-N78HD mobo which is socket AM2+ .. So Yes the Athlon II will work in the AM2+ slots. All AM3 CPUs work in AM2+ Mobos. Thank you AMD
