If you're going wireless, then I'd day it is restricted to how many IPs are available in your IP range such as in DHCP... .
Ports and IPs.
Unless the manufacturer states or limits the device otherwise, the connections are basically restricted to two things .

0.0.0.0/0 is a way of expressing "any network." For firewall rules, allowing a connection for a specified port to 0.0.0.0/0 means that it can open that connection on that port to any destination .

Your router is likely configured to allow the use of multiple IPs if available, although you can change it to only use 1 if you'd like .
Mine only allows 1 lease at a time though.

It sounds like you are getting a 169.x.x.x address and are not actually connecting to the router .
Disable wireless security and see if the problem persists.

I think even the newer versions of the Cisco PIX have web based configuration interfaces but it's not quite as slick as those from companies that engineered their products from the ground up to be used... .
