Is there a difference between a hard reset and the re-formatting procedures described on Palm's

To also re-format for Medium & Large fonts. Usually this works OK, but I have several lrf files
that crash (cause the reader to cold reset) when it is formatting the fonts.
Annoyingly, sometimes
