I would agree for Thailand....
For me phnom penh was one of my favorite places in all of South East Asia, I would go on the interent the night before and book ahead (hotel, travel, guided tours).
If you leave out Phnom penh.

Never leave valuables, passport etc in luggage- always carry them .
You, is never take a tourist bus booked at a KSR travel agent, use the train or government buses, and read up on scams in Thailand.

thailand and cambodia is easy as english is commonly used.
Countries like malaysia singapore.
