With the new October 2009 MacBook, it seems to be the better machine compared to the 13 inch Macbook Pro (ignoring the looks) ? Am I missing something ?

Well I don't think you need 1920x1200 on a 17" screen, the MacBook Pro is sleeker and features nice things like the iSight, magsafe, etc, all....
Between those two I'd definitely pick MacBook Pro, simply, for OS X, doesn't matter goes...
