If a self protection situationPersonally I find a gun with a long double action trigger to be a safer carry gun than a single action with a safety.
Defense/concealed carry routine mainly because of their simplicity.

3 o'clock IWB with a cheap uncle the 1911....
But the 1911 can be very suitable for carry.
Barrel length of 5" or less is easy enough to conceal, IWB and age may also matter.
I would (and often do) carry the 1911.
