I recently decided to re-install windows on my laptop. It went fine all the way through till the actual installation of the new windows (ie deleted the old partition and made a new one). The problem is that it is now saying:-

I put together a computer using an old hard drive, but when I try to boot up it goes to a Windows XP installation screen where it says: "the file asms on windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd is needed" , I don't have the old Windows XP installation...

Nothing two known working boot CDs, ....
There was a simple way to just delete the partition with the partial XP installation, or clear the hard, and formated it, then reinstalled it, you will still need to boot from CD to install anything.
