So what do you fellas have to say about that mabe some of you gents that have owned both Quad Core as well as the E6800 care to comment and add suggestion to my question?

Build options Faster Core 2 Duo or Slightly Slower Core 2 Quad?
Fast quads cost more than fast duals - they are also generally hotter and do not overclock as easily. By the time a quad is able to be fully utilized the expensive quads now that we might want will be cheaper, I still say go with a fast dual.

Can I put Core 2 Duo in this laptop?
I agree, if a machine does NOT have a dual core proc in it to begin with, you have little chance of it supporting one, ESPECIALLY in the notebook realm of things. I would sell it for what you can get for it and buy a C2D machine, holidays are coming, you will more than likely find a decent deal on one. Or keep the old one as a spare, youll never know with laptops, if you get one that has an issue out of the gate and have to deal with mftr to get it fixed, youll be upset not having a laptop to use at all.

Is a Athlon X2 Duel Core processor for laptops better or equal to the Intel Core 2 Duo processor?
There is a wide range of Athlon processors and core2 duo processors. Any of them should be far more powerful than a pentium 4.

Core Duo Macbooks still viable?
There has been some speculation that snow leopard will be 64-bit only, that would rule out the original core duo chips as they are 32-bit only. As a lot of things in snow leopard, it's 64-bit-ness is far from being certain though.
