I just bought an LSI SAS 9211-8i HBA(Host bus adapter) to use with my new hardware. I realized after looking at the card that it required an x8 slot and my new mobo only x16 available. I keep on reading that PCI-E specs are backwards compatable however...

This goes against the intentions of PCI-E upgrade.

Hey guys,
I recently purchased a ASUS Xonar DX sound card! The problem is i can not fit the sound card to my PCI-E 1x slot because my video cards take up three slots each because i have Artic coolers on them! So that leaves me with only one PCI-E 16x ...

Did you plug.
Have you tried in all those slots?
It should work in all of them.
According to the picture of your Motherboard, you should have 2 16xPCIE and one 4xPCIE slots available.
It should work.

One of our less-critical servers seems to have lost the use of its onboard SATA controller -- which was managing the software-mirrored boot volume.
The simplest and cheapest fix was to buy a 2-port SATA controller at the local Fry's -- or so it seemed...

I am not sure how much of performance....
Performance wise, you are at the limits of your pci bus.
It will plug right in and the last portion of the card will not be used in the slot .
A lot of those 64bit PCI cards can be used with 32bit slots.

Ok, I actually just checked, and I do have an open pci-e 1x slot open, so this is more for curiosity than anything else.

Well....
I could be wrong, though.
As for my scenario, I don't think a 4x card (like some RAID controllers) would work, even though.
Good).
(4X as well)
The slot is keyed so it'll fit snuggly .
The PCI-E spec says it should work.

I'm trying to get an old PCI video card (Diamond Stealth 2500) along with a normal PCI-E video card.

RoS Clan Website PCI-e and PCI are different.
And it isn't half the connector, just that small part where the slot ends .

When I connect both pci-e connectors, is this increasing amps? I have enough power for the system but I'm concerned about the amp requirements for the new GPU.

I do not know your present power....
It wont work unless you connect both anyway.

When I connect both pci-e connectors, is this increasing amps, that is why 2 connections are used.
