Why is World War 2 such a popular history subject? Is it because it's the only major war America fought in history. Iraq and Vietnam too recent.

I was lucky enough to go to oak Dump Cemetury in Belgium 2 yrs ago to visit my Grandads.
I believe it's an unwritten rule among soldiers of any nation that war graves combatants.
