Say someone had a capital loss of approx. $25k in 2008 would it make sense that for their 2011 tax return on their worksheet for capital loss carryover :
long-term capital loss carryover for 2011 would be: $3,500
i'm thinking they may have missed something...

But the percentage of the gaine did not equal to the percentage of the loss.
Did the guy recover his money? the amount of the gain equaled to the amount of the loss.
Then tsx dropped in 2008 and then recovered to 14000 in 2011.
