Mine has a 1.83mhz Core Duo, and it is also hot under the right palmrest, hot enough to be annoying .
A solution is to disable it and install a PCMCIA card instead .
I think the built-in wireless card is the culprit.

Windows XP has less requirements than Vista, and yes, I have noticed that it runs "faster" than Vista on several machines I have worked on .
It could be a problem with your machine, or OS configuration, or something else, I have no way to know .
