No-one ?? :( My initial thought was that it sounded as if the shutter button was sticking down and a quick Google suggests that said part can be problematic .

Canon 30D as backup Any thoughts on the 30D as a backup? I know theyre a few years old, but they can be had for a very reasonable price. I shoot with a crop sens. now, so glass isn't an issue.

That's probably why you see more 20D's than the 30D.

The 30D is OK.
What are you shooting? Are you talking the 30D or Canon D30? Both are digitals and both really are Canon.

You will need the 75-300mm to pull those dolphins and whales close to you at 300mm... .
Bring both lenses and practice swapping them while at home .

Hi,
I bought a used 30D and I often get the "Error 99" red warning on the back LCD. I then shut down the camera, reopen it and it's usually o.k. after that... til the next error message. Doesn't happen that often, but enough to be a nuisance and enough...

My 30D would not work despite changing batteries.
Beyond that perhaps someone with more hands-on experience with the 30D Received the dreaded Error 99 on a family trip to NYC.
