Anyhow....
I have also had several in the Rebel; but the 30D is the first Canon to use Picture Styles for consistent color from model to model over time camera.
First Canon DSLR was the 20D, followed by two different 30D's.

Canon 30D displaying "error 99"
My Canon 30D is displaying the message "error 99". I've tried:
wiping the lens contacts;
attaching a different lens;
removing the lens;
using a different CF card;
removing the CF card;
removing the battery for two hours...

Still not....
I hadn't, but I just tried it.
Page 40 of the manual shows the position.
It's inside the main battery compartment.
Have you removed the date/time backup battery as well as the main battery? It only needs to be for a few seconds, not two hours .

What's wrong with my Canon EOS 30D? My camera suddenly won't take pictures. When I push the shutter button, the flash will pop up and the camera will beep and focus, but it won't take the shot. I've cleared all settings, and reset the custom functions...

My son uses one.
No mattter how big or small the room the quality won.t be cheap! For a zoom there is the Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L series.
Get a Canon Speedlite 580EX II and an EF-S 15-85mm IS.
