It doesn't use Java3D (AFAIK), either self-made 3D or OpenGL (using JOGL IIRC).
I saw many (non commercial, mostly artistic) 3D applets made with Processing .

You see this technology in 3D cinemas too, there is another alternative to store 3D images in a @D image format, but this requires the use.
Locations, your brain then combines the data producing a 3D image.

Why are all of these movies coming back to theaters in 3D? Star Wars I can kind of understand, but Beauty and the Beast? Titanic? Come on! It's pure greed on the part of movie theaters. Im sure they will charge $20 a ticket too. Lame!

What kind of 3D model? A binary blob, or some sort of SVG-esque thing?

Ok so my mate just got a series 7 samsung 3d tv and i was always under the impression that you needed a 3d bluray player to be able to watch 3d. however, with his tv, when you turn the 3d setting on, everything becomes 3d no matter what the source is ...
