How do I learn programming to create web-based applications?
IMHO, learning PHP first is a good way to ruin a potential programmer. Very bad habits abound in PHP land, bad advice for PHP programmers is everywhere. Don't do yourself this disfavor, learn PHP later, and then learn to use it with a good MVC framework such as CodeIgniter.

Apart from Compiz, what do you use 3D acceleration for?
It's useful for the OpenGL screensavers if you like that kind of thing. I use it to run a few games, have compiz installed but don't use it at the moment.

Any amiga applications that are still useful?
I don't use that many apps on my Amiga really, but the ones I tend to use most are Directory Opus 4, Personal Paint and Blitz Basic. Also any text editors that happen to be hanging around.

How can this updated spec be for 1080p24 and 1080i30 only? If they're updating the specs they need 1080p50 and 1080p60 if they're going to be competing with broadcast HD. Otherwise Blu-ray will be worse than broadcast HD spec-wise.

What applications, if any, benefit tangibly from more than 4GB of RAM?
One of the benefits I've seen is being able to run a virtual machine and give it lots of headroom. That lets me run Visual Studios in a virtual machine and still listen to media player on the local machine without bogging everything down to a crawl.
