Just had this same, exact situation! DD will also be 5 in April but is 44 lbs and almost 45 inches.

For as little as H, or the 3 of us for that matter, would need to be in that car, $50 in DH's car on the way home from daycare (less than 5 minute trip), so we didn't want to spend too in that just fine.....
And I'm only 5'3".

My son will be 5 in April. I don't have a car but have used the Cosco Scenera as an extra seat for friend's cars & taxi's (We have an Evenflo Triumph DLX in both sets of grandparents cars). He is 43" & 42 lbs- the Scenera only went up to 40lb....

The Vantage (and the Scenera) have very low top slots, so it's likely he outgrew both of those a long time ago by shoulder height (seats are outgrown at the weight limit... .
I'd get the Maestro, or a Ride Safer Travel Vest (though that may be just over $100) .
