I'm looking to purchase a new hard drive for my laptop and 500GB is currently the largest available. Is it likely that larger (e.g. 750GB, 1TB?) 2.5" hard drives will be coming onto the market soon, or is 500GB touching the limits of current hard drive...

Yeah, I did think of upgrading the hard drive in it at one point myself but decided against it....
I've just found out that replacing the hard drive means removing the LCD about it and get back to you.

Okay, so I dunno what happened, but it seems something is wrong with my computer.
In Disk Management, my computer tells me my computer's HDD is 500GB (which it should be), showing I have a 451GB partition, which is my C:/ drive.

Have you resized partitions lately or have you cloned this drive? I tried cannot be seen in 'My Computer' because they have no drive-letter assigned to them.

In working out what size of external hard drive I need hard drive, what does 500Gb equate to? In terms of say average 300 page paperbacks, or average content colour photographs, or 90 minute movies, or 1 hour TV programmes, or average 4 minute music tracks...

If disk size, and it's always busy - and....
Get a solid state drive.
I cannot express this enough...
Memory, processor speed and optical disk speed will all have a bigger impact than the hard drive speed, I would have thought.
