When you say rust, are you saying the heat exchanger is not stainless? I'm thinking if enough rust to clog the vent fell off the thing in 2 years, how long before it rusts through?
Are there 2 heat exchangers, primary and secondary like in condensing ... .

I am buying some stuff from a new supplier. They don't carry much plumbing, do have gas pipe, and water heaters. They get brads. I have never installed bw before and in looking at there catalog they show electric resi heaters with model numbers m-2-50...

I install a ton of them....
If that is the case is an accurate number for their 50gal, dual 4500w elements heater.
Other WH's with a "-285" suffix that indicates it comes with incoloy elements.

Woke up this morning to hot water dumping on the floor and going down the floor drain.

50Gal power vent gas heater was $900 as opposed to $3500 from a house with a 60 gal tanked WH to a new house with the largest Noritz on demand WH they make.
