I've got about $200k in student loans at 4.75% interest. After a few more payments will be at 3.75%

Banging my head against the wall with this!
Since 529 plans can be limited with selection and fees and weather you use it for school etc, doesn't it make most sense to keep a seperate account in my name at Vanguard and just fund it monthly in dividend...

The UTMA assets can be used for college a deduction for 529 contributions, that can be a big tax savings, but even if there is no deduction of these "managed" accounts outway ....

So my DH had a child before he graduated high school. SS will be 11 this year.
When DH had SS he was a teenager himself, he was able to graduate and he worked 2 retail jobs to support him,SS, and BM. She worked off and on. DH eventually got into training...

Are you going to start two seperate college funds? Why?
Why not start one that SS gets in 8 years when he goes off to college and then continue saving for your DC for when he/she reaches college age has a whole other family....
