8ohm Celestion Blue in a Blues Jr.
8ohm head into 16ohm amp is no problem for example a 16ohm vs.
The lower the number on the speaker,the more it is asking of the amp .

Also, why not just run the cab in stereo? It'll only use 1 speaker, but you'll have a 16 ohm load .

Well i rewired my mesa half back cab. all 8 0hm speakers. Stock it has stereo plugs @ 4ohms and a mono plug at 8ohms. i rewired the sides to series so i would get stereo 16ohms. Jam space was tight and needed to split the cab with my bandmate. I disconnected...
