The impala rear end are factory weak and break a lot .
There stronger and already shorter.
And as for the impala rear ends, you should run the ford 9 inch rear ends should run the ford 9 inch rear ends.
It shorten.

Ford 9" out of an Econoline Van. Straight tube housing for easy narrowing. 31 Spline axles could be able to be resplined depending on width. Large 12" diameter drums. Emergency brake cables have been cut.

My truck will be definitely seeing 35's, and it MIGHT see larger but I won't guarantee it. Instead of just tossing a 31 spline 8.8 under it I want to go with something a little heavier, plus I want to match my front width as I am doing an SAS for my 4...

Bear in mind I believe there are THREE sizes of Ford third member rear....
I understand some of the Ford Fairmont/ Mercury Monarch in the same years came with a 9" but most were of the older Mustangs would fit GOOD LUCK finding one.

Hey guys, I have an 8.8 ford rearend out of a 95 cop mustang. It has 4 bolt axles on it. I was told there is a combination you can change out of a explorer and what ever to make it 5 lug axles. Can anyone help me. Or should I just go get a ford exporer...

I drove it for 11, and bought a ford ....
I used a bed from a 47 but had to narrow it down by a couple of inches.
I need tailgate,pair of running board,spair tire,1 sway them.
With a Ford F-100 9" and use 15" Ford rims.
