Hello,
Ive tested mp3 encoders today and I like to share my results.
I havent done spectrum analisys, only ABX listening tests.
Programs used for encoding:
1. dbpoweramp 14.2 (with fraunhofer 4.0.3-latest)
2. iTunes 10.5.2.11 (uses fraunhofer mp3)

The minimal number of trials depends on how successfull you are.
How quickly you are sucessfull shows how confident in yourself you are.
The time & number of sucessfull trials are tied, you should never separate them when judging an ABX log.
With F2K ...

ABX testing outside audio?
In the distant past, a friend did some summer work for Mars. His duties included tasting subtly different recipes for food products and rating them on various scales.
The thought came to me that surely, double-blind ABX methodology...

Hi to all,
I think that here there is some audiophile...
Do you use AAC file on your HIFI or only lossless (FLAC/ALAC) or CD Audio?
Actually i'm trying to make a good ABX and I admit... I can't find difference with the MP3/AAC file and CD... I don't find...

To start with, I'm not an expert in sound. I found some way to "zoom" an audio file to help detection of artifacts.
What I used:
- Foobar (latest stable release from web)
- 5.1 headphone configuration (http://www.head-fi.org/t/447089/5-1-headphone-experience...

Hello,
I'm using Nero 1.5.4.0 AAC codec in Foobar 1.1.10. I converted the same source file to AAC using two different settings: q0.38 and q0.40. Theoretically, the q0.38 should have resulted in smaller file/lower bitrate. However, the resulting files ...

Otherwise, I would simply chalk up the first test to better image; but then the results are clearly in favor of the AMD rig in both tests, so that could not have been having clouded judgement.
