I would try a different filter, or borrow a phone from a neighbor or friend and see if it works.
The phone still works normally.
I use two DSL filters on one landline phone in series.
Take the filter out.

Hi all,
Is there any affect on speed if you use a long phone lead between the ADSL filter and the router ? My wife has been told that using a 10m phone cable (between filter and router) will severely restrict connection speeds. Is that right ?
TIA for...

Not sure how well aluminium cable performs for ADSL , you might get away with it (I know.
I run a 20m cable as above with no noticeable) .
Master socket just using an adsl filter would suffice.

Hi,
I would like to know which ISPs offer DSL/ADSL service with static ip address? It doesn't matter if it is for home or business users, if you know some just name it.
Thanks in advance

In the UK, I personally use Enta.net who provide a variety of ADSL/SDSL services.
Verizon offers Business ADSL that offers you a static IP at an added cost:
For $39.99/month you can at a /28.

The other day my home adsl modem/router (dwg 684t in this case) died. A guy from the telecom company came, brought another so no problem in day to day operation, but he also left this one.
Now, I'm interested ... it didn't fall, it wasn't electrocuted...

The most common fix is simply to change the plug as a fuse can go, but otherwise, typically ... .
Or manufacturing defect that just takes time to show up .
It can really be anything, the two main reasons are either short circuit and the motherboard fries.. .

I seem to be getting ~400 Kbps download speed here, and ~700 Kbps upload (yes, they're both rubbish). Does this seem wrong to anyone, and what could be causing it (apart from the 'acceptable' things like distance from exchange etc.)
Edit #1:

Get onto.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to get to:
Unplug everything else from the phone line and verify the rate on the ADSL router.
Is not the same as the division that does ADSL.

The most popular line box is the BT/Openreach NTE5 type. The version we sell is the latest revision with the bell wire filter that can help improve ADSL performance, in some cases by as much as 3mb!
You will see we also have "ADSL filtered " & "ADSL Filtered...
