I am trying to use the Event Log to write some debug information and I can't make it works. It complains about not being able to find the Event Source. Do I have to install something on the OS?

I'm seeing this at the bottom of pages:
Not able to open ./cache/data_global.php
It doesn't seem to be impacting anything so it's just a heads up in case it indicates an issue that needs to be looked at.
