ABS sensor technical specs?
On my 931 UWB project, I am installing rear trailing arms from an 89 944S2. They come with the toothed rear hubs and the associated ABS sensors. The display unit I plan to use is the Dash2 from Race Technology. It requires a wheel speed sensor that can provide a 5v or 12v square wave signal in order to provide speedometer and odometer function. Just wondering if the 944 ABS sensor will work for this application, bearing in mind that I am also installing a completely custom wiring system, so I can provide either 5V or 12V to the sensor. Otherwise, I'll have to start looking for an aftermarket alternative. source
Are the ABS brakes any better than the non-ABS brakes?
Good call on that, course I'm sorta a purist and could score the brake lines at the junk yard. I'll pull the fuse and see if it makes a difference on the pulling. But I'm curious what people think of abs vs non-abs on these. So far I'm not impressed with the ABS but something is probably wrong with it. source
ABS triggering but NO ABS Light?
If the ABS module is bad, you can replace it yourself. HOWEVER, you will need to connect to a Tech II to bleed the system. I wouldn't drive the vehicle until the system is completely bled. source
I check the ABS code?
What's sup guys, I check the ABS code and it say's that the sensor on the right wheel are not "seeing" the teeth on the rings that tell it the wheels are turning? So what do I really need to do, buy a sensor and how much is that or tighten the sensor. source
ABS removal on 990 Adventure?
ABS systems compare wheel speeds and relieve brake pressure to maintain all the wheels speeds within a certain percentage of each other. Modern systems act fast enough that each wheel doesn't come anywhere close to actually locking and skidding. If you reroute the rear brake around the ABS then the front ABS should work as long as the rear tire isn't slipping. This basically means that if you want ABS on the street you need to only use the front brake in the panic stop situations. If you use the rear and lock it then the front will lock up as well. The same is true on the trail if you skidding the rear brake on a downhill and use the front brake. source
