Hello!
I will be climbing/hiking Ben Nevis in a month or two if all goes well. With an uncle and my father.
My uncle is 'leading' this so far and had decided that the 'Tourist' / Easy route would be fine. Nothing too easy but not too taxing on their knees...

Start from the tourist info rather than the youth hostel.
Most of the accomodation around there are geared up on it.
Someone know where and when you are going.

It changed hands and I was there @ 5 months ago... .
I wouldnt recommend the Himmeville anymore sorry.
Search www.safarinow.com.
It's only 5kms from Himeville.
Nice pub :)
Don't forget to look at Underberg as well .
In Himeville the Himeville Arms is good.

Would it be ok not to include a directions/accomodation card in our invite? The cost for this card is 50e and I think it will be floating around in our invite pack.
We naively seem to think most people know where our hotel is! And surely people know how...

I'm not sure if crampons (and therefore appropriate boots) and ice axe is necessary for the tourist route, but be prepared to rent... .
Walking poles will be helpful for stability in high winds .

Cable car, do wrap up warm though.
