Technically speaking ATI does have the better implementation for 3D, even if it's a lot more of a pain to set up (3rd party drivers)
nVidia is proprietary requiring use of their video cards with their glasses...which stinks. What if you want to hook another...

Most of the 120Hz monitors are for Nvidia....
monitors but more importantly supports a good number of TVS, projects, and even an HMD (Sony 3d used a number of 3D monitors, on both Nvidia and AMD (guess you didn't get the memo about ATI).
