I was thinking about picking up a new acoustic guitar this weekend and I was wondering what you more experienced guitar players thought. I've been playing for about three years and I would say that I'm a good/novice guitar player. I've never taken a lesson...

Spend the money and get one that will last and sound great .
I agree with mike, for me the natural tone of a well built acoustic is just so beautiful.

What's considered to be the top of the line system for acoustic guitar? There's so many choices it can become mind blowing trying to sort it all out. I'm guessing it would be one of the multi source systems. My preferences would be recreation of natural...

And amplifying an acoustic is always a series of compromises between feedback.
Getting great sound can be as simple as an amp made especially for acoustic guitars for it all...
Avoid cheap stuff.

Personally, I have never met an acoustic bass that could be played acoustically with others.

I have been using my step sons electric guitar to play rocksmith with, and I am really digging it. In fact I am thinking on buying my own guitar. My question is... what should I get? Electric or Acoustic? I don't want to drop more than 200 to 300 bucks...

electrified one and add acoustic/electric Ibanez that, if you ask me, sounds great

I do play electric as well (in a couple of bands) but when it comes to guitar the acoustic will always be with me.
That is what I started on as a kid.
