Hi,
Have just upgraded a Slack 12.2 installation which previously had KDE 4.1.
The upgradepkg all ran smoothly and KDE 4.2 seems to work OK.
I ran the upgrade from a konsole ...

Seems like you didnt understand... .
Also the location of the console, encoder, etc is probably /usr/local/bin
You should probably explain what it is you want to do .

I've been using Compiz because it allows decreasing the screen refresh rate and enabling vsync. Without it, there's massive screen tearing. I understand the issue is on the kernel level - drivers (?) are refreshing the picture before new frames are...
