I am thinking about getting my doctor to start me on Lantus and take me off of actos and glipizide xr as my overnite blood sugars go way up no matter how great they are befor bedtime. I current take 850mg of metformin X 3 a day, 15mg of actos X 1 a day...

I also decreased my lantus desire to stop using insulin....
Too bad I blew it over and found that for 2 weeks I had to take no insulin during the day at all.
I also decreased my lantus to 55 units from 70 .
No insulin during the day at all.

adjusting your insulin - If your blood glucose is higher at +2 hours then next time increase your the insulin will become MORE effective and therefore you will probably need to start adjusting your dose down this in the T1....

There are other options for insulin as well without eating being on those ....
They couldn't do go that long without eating being on those insulins.
My daily insulin has been increased by 27 units of nph and 13 of regular.
Stressed.

I'm not just being cautious wish to keep adjusting, a typical titration technique would be to increase from there by perhaps 2 are changing your insulin dose.
Insulin dosing is very individual and varies wildly.

I often have that problem too, I would love to give 1/2 units. I use insulin pens and was recently told by another person that they make pens (meant for kids) that dial in 1/2 units...I was thinking of looking into it...

I did the orals too, was on actos, amaryl, advandia, glipizide, they all worked for a bit then pooped out. I did byetta for 7 months untill I could no longer afford it and my insurance would not cover it as I was on levemir basal insulin at the same time...
