I have run into a very strange problem attempting to open a .pdf from a network location. This is a simple file sharing over a peer to peer XP home network. The shared folder is C/Shared folder with full permissions to that folder.

Original setup.
700 Gig HD. Format 30 GB and leave the rest unallocated.
Install Windows 7 Professional.
Now there are 2 partitions - System Reserve 100MB and WIN7-ROOT 30GB.
Allocate the remaining space into an additional partition of approx. 660GB.

We've been having this problem for about a month now, and we've just not been using the machine (which isn't the preferred option, obviously).
Using McAfee - and MBAM Free version, had some notices that there were viruses after scanning, and deleted them...

I restarted into normal mode. I then tried to install Adobe Reader, but the window hung when it said something along the lines of "getting installer" (I think it's because the Adobe installation program actually initiates...
