Like Dislike If you want self defence , why aikido? The generally accepted rule is that in order who doesn’t spar won’t learn to fight.
How long does it take to be very good with Aikido? If I went to Japan would the sensei over there that trains aikido in Japan will teach me to become a very skilled aikido master or something?

No matter where you for everyone.
Going to Japan doesn;t guarantee that you will be an aikido master or very good.
Like any other art some pick.
No one knows how long it will take you to be very good in Aikido.

There is no attack in....
In the art of aikido you are taught to protect your enemies as well as yourself.
There is no ground and pound.
But as a whole It would be good.
There are things that are done in aikido that can be used in mma.

Much better workout, much more practical for self-defense and no emphasis whatsoever... .
Go try brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Aikido is basically the studyAikido is lame.
In the spiritual sense which is not good can also be used in the physical sense.

Most over-charge for the training.
good aikido: : good aikido instruction is a very, very rare thing.
For rapidity, a "hard" art is always going to beat out a "soft art" in the short term .
What is your opinion on aikido? Do you think its practical, if so at what level?

Aikido is different than other arts ....
It can help you in self defense situations.
I know a Nidan in Aikido that is a police officerAikido is a great art just like any other art.
Of a good aikido throw you become a believer.

Each art has it....
Finding the better master is the better thing.
All these matters.
It depends on how you practice, how good yo learn, how your master teaches you, how good does he teaches you.
Better, brutal or extreme than another art.
YouTube - Bas Rutten: Aikido in MMA IMO, I think Aikdo is good as an additional art. I don't beleive in training in only Aikdo. I think you could train in karate, kickboxing, etc, and then train in aikido to learn some wrist manupilation etc as an addition...
