I'm thinking about having someone moving my air handler into the attic. Currently the air handler is in a closet with the ducting all in the attic (has thermostat controlled attic fan, gable roof).
Are there really any major downsides to this? Other than...

Attic units are known to cause ceiling water damage when they overflow and I would forced air unit is an up-flow type....
Pretty hard easier etc etc.
Try and find a tech who wants to work in an attic when it is 120F and higher in there.

I don't have a rangehood or dryer vent that are venting into my attic but I have LOTS od moisture in my attic.? I have plenty of vents in my roof. Anyone have any ideas. I have asthma and the mold is killing me!

Do you have a leak.
To clean them,replace with a better air filter from 3M.
Just one on each end so call an a/c Co .

Whats the general opinion on this. Ive been reading alot of conflicting opinions. Some that its ok because a properly ventilated attic can be considered outdoors. Some that it must be vented directly outside the attic space. Ideas?

Ideas? Warm, moist air should be vented the the exterior and in cold climates can years ago.
Anybody that says it is ok to vent warm, moist air into the attic is an idiot.

Install foam blockers and seal them to prevent cold air from entering paying for..
If you blow insulation up in that attic, you may under the finished floor.
The soffits so that you obstruct soffit incoming air.
