I recently bought an ALICE pack at a swap meet for $10. It had everything, frame, pack, straps, kidney belt, and came with an e-tool and pouch! But when I got it home and started looking it over, I found some mold on the middle exterior...

Yeah,,,, old Alice....
I think I saved the pack from the mold though, so it is a win in my book.
The ALICE never received that treatment, so I doubt it really matters anyway on it, which doesn't bother me a whole bunch.

Do you really need a big pack? Remember you, inexpensive and quite good.....
Two reasons- one they only have one driver guide and sometimes, tents etc as well as luggage for everyone in one trailer .
Companies will be happy about a big pack.

Supposed to be new, and the medium is a good size for "Bushcraft" use
As always postage from the USA is a little high but you could always ask how much extra could be included (weight wise ) in that cost

In and around Alice Springs there are good day trips that might be worth.
Have a day/half day out at Kata Tjuta -pack yourself plenty of water/Tours/5-Day-Uluru-Tour.aspx Enjoy.
That feeling at Uluru is lost IMHO.
