Plug for aluminum boat Hi all, I recently purchased a 14' aluminum v-hull rowboat (a 1968 Sea Nymph, I believe!). It has a threaded 3/4" hole in the bottom of the boat about 4" in front of the transom. Of course, there was no plug when I bought the boat...

Hi,
I'm new to machining.
I'm trying to part off a 0.900" aluminum rod on the lathe of my HF5980 "3 in 1 tool."
I've got a new HSS parting tool (straight out of the box) set to cut at the midway point of the rod, sticking out about 1/2", I'm cutting...

I've had miserable luck with the saggar process. Every resource I've tried suggest firing to 1350 F to 1450 F. I've tried both with lousy results, the foil breaks down and the colors are anemic. Even though so many have has success at these high temps...

Try doing a paper sagger, it is similar to aluminum foil saggars but instead you.
I have never had luck doing aluminum foil saggars, nor I have I seen any done by others that achieved good color.

It was a 36 Freedom 40's were designed with the carbon fiber that I saw in Hull number 1 .
Of NonSuch and a few Freedom aluminum mast owners and have only heard of one breaking.
