I am connecting a LilyPad Temperature sensor to a LilyPad Arduino 328 Main Board with the goal of reading fairly accurate ambient temperature readings. The sensor is receiving power and giving a responses I'm able to read over serial.

Have you tried casting it to a float like so:
therm = (float)analogRead(2);
What does the sensor voltage read on a voltmeter? Does the reading change when you change the temperature of the... .
According to this documentation , analogRead returns an integer.

An idle chip is pretty easy to cool, fully loaded temps are where you're going to see if your setup is actually working correctly.

Cause for concern? first u should do....
Also get a heatsink and fan for motor, or a alloy gearbox .
Well, get a temp gun, they can be found cheap.

However, all I need in this case is for my full load at high ambient to be workable at stock at 100F ambient.
That comes to mind with high ambient temps, but that would require lots of money, modding by now.

In the Mazda 3, you can turn on the trip computer. Is there any type or similar "mod/tweak" for the CX-7? Specifically for the ambient temp?

I think obout 90% of over clockers are limited to ambient temp cooling in the form of water cooling or air heat sinks.
This club is for the 90% that don't have access to sub ambient temp cooling like liquid nitrogen or chilled water ect....
