What is the difference? I can hear a classic heavy metal and a thrash metal influence on both, and to me bands within those genres basically sound the same? I haven't heard much speed metal, so maybe that's the reason?

I've seen a friends band described as a mixture of three obscure emo bands from the 90s that probably in the main, the fact that bands can often sound like your favourite band playing b-sides with 40 a flyer and it reads "....

I'm looking for bands with a pop-punk sound/emo influences with cleaner guitar like Saves The Day on Stay What You Are, but no so mathy like late 90's emo bands like American Football, etc.
Any recommendations?

Tribute bands...cool or not? I'm contemplating it for the money, but I admit i would
feel a tad embarrassed. I'm talking a tribute band dedicated to
a single band like say RHCP or a Soundgarden tribute.
Cover bands are one thing. Tribute bands are another...

For us it's 60's soul/Motown.
It's working out very well and we get to play more variety than just one band.
What I do is a tribute to a genre, not any single band.
Getting teh "ghey" feelings about joining.

Everyone is either a producer or artist.
Where did the guys who play the instruments go? Just to the studio?
