React nitric acid with a base, you get a nitrate salt.
This is the method used in in large scale React ammonia with an acid, you get an ammonium salt.

Soil Nitrate test done just the other day. is there a recomendation chart for nitrogen on corn . Ive got the readings ranging from 36 to 120 ppm. This farm had manure applied Januray 8th. Thanks

Considering the time of the year and that you had applied... .
Is that the nitrate number or nitrate N number? Was that a 10" sample? If it is nitrate N and a 10" sample the 120ppm would convert to 360 lbs of N/acre.
Those are high levels.

There is little.
Just wash it off with plain old water.
