Basically my thoughts have always been to buy the DVDs if the show was originally aired in SD, and go with Blu-Ray if it is natively HD as in newer series. My assumption is that upscaling older shows to HD will look worse than just watching it in its ...

It is an interesting thought. I'm not very knowledgeable on how the format is faring in Japan, but I can definitely say that won't be the case in the United Kingdom. While a lot seems to be released on blu-ray, everywhere I go has pretty pathetically ...

Every time i see a comedy on bluray i think "what's the point?"
In Japan for anime Blu-ray has to DVD was a worthwhile upgrade, for many DVD to Blu-ray is not.
