My grandfather has me cleaning several of his old firearms and would like to know whether not not he can fire one of them with modern ammo. It is a Hopkins & Allen Arms Company double barrel 12ga. He hasn't fired it in anywhere between 20 to 70 years....

I have heard that shotgun chamber pressures are practically nil, and as long as there isn't.
Further, the chambers are probably too short as antique shells were slightly.
For smokeless powder.

Which Shotgun is better/worth more? I was wondering about two shotguns I have. One of them is a remmington 1100 that I think is either a 1965 or 1975, the three letter code said it was invalide (RDA I think), its a 12ga, the barrel is 28" and it is laminated...

It from its original configuration didn't negate its antique status, it still would be considered an antique in NY state if and only if it was not loaded and was not possessed with the materials illegal as it would be treated like a standard....
