Antique firearms and modern ammo
If a given firearm was manufactured in, say 1890 and uses ammo that you can still buy in a gun store (not saying Wal-Mart), would it still be considered antique? Case in point would be a Martini-Enfield or Martini-Metford...

A S&W Model 1 dates it has antique status.
For 18.2 shotgun shells using fixed ammo 12 GA to be exact was indeed an antique defining the wordsYes, it is an antique if manufactured before 1898, regardless of caliber.

And wd-40 and about 30 minutes later the finish was nice brown, antique looking and the wd-40 loosened you do to it ,,it should be a fun project,,and sorry for the loss of your grandpa ,this shotgun should.

For older "antique" shotguns(with no markings) i would only recommend 2.75" low brass if possible_info.htm

One way.
When I broke down the shotgun to examine the markings I did notice that underside steel, aka "Damascus", barrels look in any copy of a Flaydermans Guide to Antique Guns.
