I'm looking at getting an Apogee Duet and a pair of monitors, probably the Yamaha Hm50, in the near future and am having a bit of trouble deciding if the new Duet is worth the increased price.
The original firewire duets are now only $350, quite the steal...

The duet 1 is still high quality, if you really need to save some cash go for the duet 1 unless you actually need the new features of the duet2 the original duet is pleanty good enough.

My output is stereo output(rename apogee duet 2) and my master track is set to apogee duet 2.
Is set to mic.

I'm thinking about buying an apogee duet 2 and purchasing an art split mix 4 passive mixer for extra inputs. Does that sound like that would work to y'all?

You'd be better ....
In other words, nothing will magically increase the number of analog i/o on an interface if it isn't there in the first place .
All tracks recorded thru the mixer will be permanently mixed together , with no way to separate them after .

Hopefully they fix just put "NEVER." I'm forced to sell my Apogee Duet now and use an AudioBox USB instead, makes in February, it's not looking ....
