I just found out that my IOGEAR KVM switch (GCS22U) doesn't work with my Apple slim aluminum keyboard. This is really frustrating because I now have a KVM that works with Ubuntu and Snow Leopard, except that the keyboard isn't recognized by Snow Leopard...

Someone in the Apple forums also got a reply work because of it's "unique USB sniffing technology for USB mouse and keyboard emulation".
The GCS632U works with the Aluminum keyboard.

I'm a programmer, working with different languages/Formats (Java, Python, Xml, Html, Objective-C ect.). From time to I've to work on a Mac and I'm not very comfortable with the German keyboard layout for programming.
Is there somebody with the same problem...

I recently did an internship in England and used this opportunity to switch to the English keyboard it, especially since you can still type the German umlauts very well on the English keyboard layout (Alt+u it requires the shift key!

It's often used in legal documents....
It's called the section sign.
If you don't use it, you can try remapping it to something more usefull for you .
Some people use it in writing to refer to sections of documents .
The name of that glyph is section sign.

I was having problems with Ubuntu recognizing my Apple slim aluminum keyboard until I upgraded from 8.04 to a newer version of Ubuntu .

Does the Apple keyboard require 8 digits to pair, or could i pair with, say, 4 digits, as the usual cell phones and other Bluetooth device ?

The issue is that until an Apple keyboard is somehow it with BT Nokia cellphones....
I've heard of people pairing keyboard can work with different number of digits.
With my Apple BT alu-keyboard, it requires 6 characters, not 8.

Has anybody been able to get the "fn" key on the Apple keyboard to work in Vista? Not a copy running in Boot Camp, but the "real thing". I have tried many tools to remap keys, but I have yet to find one that will detect that key.

The key to "International" in the system preferences, and check keyboard layouts that you wish to use into caps inadvertently (frequently).
Perhaps you should change the keyboard to "US English" for the time you are writing code.

I ask because I noticed while researching a new laptop, that Lenovo keyboards have the Fn key in the left corner of the keyboard instead of Ctrl ( famously it seems ).
I also discovered the same configuration is present on Apple laptops.
