I'm typesetting a series of annotations to papers. Each chapter will be on a paper, so I'd like to put the paper authors right under the chapter names (the paper titles).

I believe the versions package could be used in order to avoid listing article's ....
You could use the extract package to generate a separate LaTeX source file for the paper with the author list and acknowledgements automatically removed.

I just need a small way of handling a list of a few hundred (maybe 300 tops) scientific papers. I have author (often more than one on one paper), title, publication, some publication details (year, number, ...).

If you are handy with OFfice in general you could fairly easily do this in Access, however, I find Access sometimes overly... .
Excel could do this, but it would take quite a bit of finagling to make it work (and probably some scripting and/or pivot tables) .

I've heard that title capitalization in bibliography is the bibliography style's role (the bst file). Is there a bibliography style file that capitalizes book titles but not paper titles? For example, a paper title should be like

We could probably do with some more information here! What style do you want everything else in? There are lots of variables to how bibliographies are formatted .
