For some reason Avast won't update the definitions files automatically. Currently I'm showing program version 7.0.1426 and virus definitions 120317-1 - which I think hasn't updated since I updated to 1426 as the old version wasn't updating.
Any ideas?...

I am trying to install Avast 7 Free on my Vista SP2 machine, but when I install it, it gets to 100% and then Windows installer starts and hangs. I have cleaned my system and made sure any remnants of other antivirus programs are removed. PLEASE HELP!

There is no Avast log.
When it hangs, can you, please, upload (attach) the avast log:
<avast folder>\Setup\setup.log
If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

I installed Avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1426 On Windows 7 (64-Bit) And I can't update the virus database, the update hangs on "Initializing" ... Is there some kind of fix I can use?

Just updated to 7.0.1426 and every seemed fine.
Updated the definitions to 120416-0 and did a reboot.
Hung on startup...just after Avast was loaded.
XP SP3 ZA firewall.
I did have Spybot 2 installed but was mentioned on another thread that this might ...

Managed to find an old setup fo Avast 5....which installs and updates to 120416-0 a reboot.
Hangs on start-up.

I tried to install SUSE Linux 10 on my new machine today. The installer gets as far as the "Analysing Partitioning" step and then hangs. I've already got several Windows partitions (and a few old Linux partitions) spread over two disks, but there's plenty...

If avast! scanning hangs on you, then, close out of aswMBR , and do the following...
Windows Seven: Right-click the file and select 'Run as Administrator'
Click: Scan
Upon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to...

Go protection > Exclutions and add all Avast....

Running on Win7 64bit, AMD PhenomII quad core, 16GB of memory with an nVidia GTX260.
This is the Steam version of the game.

Though my gun pip seems to be at the top of my HUD and this doesn't feel normal but oh well .
Update: I found that the second mission down on the instant action list WILL load .

First time I have used Avast. I have been using AVG 7.5 I just installed
Avast 4.8 free and performed pattern updates. I used the standard install,
the program uses 45mb in memory when idling. When I perform a scan it loads
another module of 10mb.
