Being vegetarian wouldn't cause a B12 deficiency. Being vegetarian and failing to supplement with B12 might, though. There's absolutely nothing un vegetarian or wrong with supplementing. In fact it's recommended by veg diet proponents who base their arguments...

My B12 is 246, on a scale of 211 to 911. So I read that as low. Should I seek treatment? Should I ask for shots or do oral supplements work? (I did have my terminal ileum removed last year.) Love to hear people's experience on this and whether it worked...

My DR wanted me to start having B12 injections more frequently, and then started reading....
Having said that, 246 could indeed be 'deficient for you myself considerably on the B12 subject.
I guess deficiency would be less than 211.

I got B12 level tested only 2 weeks back panel done.
What are your b12 levels now? Any other abnormal labs? Thanks for you response.
