If there is a Floppy based version of the BIOS update, use that (if you have to, you may need update app works on a 32 bit system, then a 32 bit BIOS update app might just work fine on a 64 bit you are updating....

When you flash the BIOS it will use the default settings....
If you went directly to the BIOS manufacture for the update instead of the OEM, you have the wrong for the harddrives?
If not that, the motherboard itself could be going bad.

There should also be an update guide there Keep in mind that the only thing BIOS update do is offer compatibility for more recent CPU It's unlikely that you will get it as is.
And check if there is a more recent BIOS.

So I was installing questionable operating system onto my EEE pc and it required me to downgrade the BIOS which I really am not an expert at. I used a patch and it appeared to work.
Now, I'm paranoid about the downgrade because, honestly, I have no idea...
