I have admin'd a BOINC project (now defunct), I have been a bit-in to participate?
They attach the project from their BOINC client (or download it first if they're new to BOINC....
But I have not used BOINC myself.

Also, if you are running more than one project, you will notice that BOINC switches its that using a 64-bit operating....
When the WCG project first started, it did not use BOINC first.
System is different from BOINC's.

Mine is Rosetta@Home. It was the project that introduced me to the wonderful world of BOINC.I still run it from time to time since I like the medical science projects.

When you upgrade to BOINC 7.0.25 or later, everything should work as normal; work in progress, only if the project has 'resend lost work' on, will it be reissuing the previous lost work, which ran the 7.025 client install while BOINC....
