Other BTL mortgages? are you on a residential mortgage and looking for consent to let or can you move by the increase.

My wife is the landlord of the flat she used to live in as a student.
It is an HMO property and has been for 6 or so years.
We currently have consent to let from Alliance and Leicester and it is on their variable rate at around 2.5% on a repayment mortgage...

I read a property owner recently saying that the only profit he made from BTL was through appreciation, not rental income. Once all his costs & maintenance were paid for, he was left with virtually nothing from rent alone.
I just wonder whether that could...
