Is it acceptable for an API to have bad behaviors (like segfault, bus error, memory leak) if the condition that would cause the bad behaviors is documented? Or should it always fail "gracefully" in all known conditions?

However one must also consider that when the failure is a consequence of bad input, you may have.

It makes an array-of-one-thing look different from a thing-on-its-own.
It's actually filling in a major inconsistency, if your deserializer is aware of the convention and works with it nicely .
This is a personal observation that I think some people here can relate to. Why are people more likely to punish someone who is doing wrong than to reward the same person who does right? Is it because we are expected to do right and therefore wrongness...

They don't really follow real rules of inheritance so don't try to force that type of thinking on to them .
Unfortunately, Master Pages are a bit of a kludge to begin with .
